What an incredible statement game at the Stick against an evenly matched team to go 8-1. Like always, the defense continues to play like the elite unit they are and Alex Smith did a great job moving the ball even without Frank Gore. The only iffy moments we had were the times our secondary got torched by Eli Manning who's campaigning to be in the conversation of elite QB's in the NFL.
The atmosphere had a playoff vibe to it and from the looks of how we've been playing and how our upcoming schedule is, the question of whether the 49ers are making the playoffs is more of a when than an if. Now that that question's solved, Niner Nation still has one question for the non-believers: Who's got it better than us??? (Answer)

Storify was nice enough to feature my story on their home page!
This expected lockout comes as the league completes one of its most successful seasons ever, with attendance, broadcast ratings and revenue up virtually across the board. But owners insist that the current labor agreement is no longer financially viable, and they point to player salaries as the main culprit. Commissioner David Stern has said that the league lost as much as $300 million in the 2010-11 season and that 22 of the league's 30 teams were in the red. Owners are now asking for player concessions, including a more equitable divide of income, more rigid rules that will limit the amount that teams can pay players (the often-mentioned "hard cap" on salaries), givebacks in an escrow system that the players have paid into and changes in the length and terms of certain types of player contracts.
Players have publicly challenged the league's claims of dire financial hardship and have remained adamantly opposed to many of the league's proposals. Chief among those is the "hard cap," an idea that the union staunchly rejects, saying it would unfairly restrict player salaries. National Basketball Players Association head Billy Hunter also has called for improving on the plan that moves revenue from the league's richer teams to its more financially challenged ones.
We'll do it," Cuban said early Monday morning. "All I told them was -- Terdema Ussery, our president -- you plan the parade. I'll pay for it because I don't think it's right for the city to have to pay for it. And let's just have some fun.
He probably is and he probably isn't. Either way, he's definitely the most entertaining.
Congrats to the Mavs on winning their first championship. I've been a fan since early 2000 and it's even sweeter that we beat the "Big 3."
Posterous continues to hook me up! This time, they gave me 10 club level tickets to watch the Kraft Bowl between the Boston College Eagles and the Nevada Wolf Pack. Despite fighting the frigid weather, each time someone tweeted #kraftfightshunger a meal was donated to someone in need courtesy of Kraft. Not a bad exchange at all!
I've seen the ballpark transform to accomodate a football field before but seeing it in person was simply beautiful. After stuffing our faces with garlic fries and washing it down with some cold beers (which in hindsight was a very bad idea considering how freezing it was) the game decidedly belonged to Nevada. A great night with some great friends!
I didn't realize how popular this bowl game was considering that the ballpark was almost at capacity even with installed bleachers in the what would be the baseball outfield. I'm looking forward to next years bowl!
