App Review: Genius Scan+
I hate my clunky printer/scanning duo machine. Scanning a multi-page document is hell. When I think about it, I think about this:
(The original video isn't on YouTube)
That was until I found this useful app called Genius Scan+. Not only does it use the iPhone camera to effectively take photos of documents, notes, business cards, receipts, and even textbook pages, it converts them to high quality JPG or PDF files that you can instantly send to practically anywhere (loving the Dropbox feature). On top of that, it allows you to take multiple photos and combine them into one document - saving you time and having to beat the shit out of your machine a la Office Space.
My Review
So far so good on this app. You have to take a pretty steady shot that has defined edge lines to get a perfect crop but it usually gets it right the first time. The PDF and JPG files it produces are legible and look like they were scanned when you use the Enhance feature on the app. The app's interface is slick and to the point and the sharing options work wonders. My only gripe is that it doesn't prompt you to rename your files before you upload or send.
I'm sure many of you college students or business types will find this useful in keeping track of documents.. I just wish I found it sooner!
